  • Own assembly sequencing, build standards, and workmanship consistency.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineering on tooling, fixtures, and work instruction development.
  • Support production readiness reviews, rate increases, and design transitions.
  • Lead workmanship investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Train, coach, and support the avionics assembly team of all levels.
  • Serve as a key interface between production, quality, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities (Level III)

  • Build complex avionics assemblies and high-density wiring harnesses with minimal supervision.
  • Execute first-article, prototype, or low-rate initial production builds.
  • Interpret incomplete or ambiguous documentation and work with engineering to resolve issues.
  • Perform detailed inspections and advanced continuity and isolation testing.
  • Support root cause investigations related to assembly workmanship.
  • Mentor and train Avionics Assembler I-II personnel.
  • Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly process improvements.

Responsibilities (Level II):

  • Assemble avionics components, electromechanical assemblies, and wiring harnesses from engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Perform wire terminations, connector installations, and harness routing to specification.
  • Conduct continuity checks and basic functional testing.
  • Identify and escalate non-conformances and workmanship issues.
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation and material traceability via MES.
  • Adhere to AS9100, FAA, and internal quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing engineering to resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities (Level I):

  • Assemble basic avionics components and sub-assemblies following work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Perform wire preparation tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, and labeling.
  • Assist with routing, dressing, and securing wiring in accordance with defined standards.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify obvious defects or workmanship issues.
  • Use basic hand tools and test equipment such as multimeters under supervision.
  • Accurately complete assembly work instructions and production documentation.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
  • Support senior assemblers and technicians as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) or technical degree with extensive aerospace experience.
  • 7+ years of avionics or high-reliability electronics assembly experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership without formal people management.
