Job description

The Contracts Assistant, MCPG will support the busy Contracts team supporting the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group through the contract life cycle. In addition to drafting amendments, agreements and related documentation, the Contracts Assistant, MCPG enters and maintains data in Biblio; routes agreements for execution via DocuSign; archives signed contracts; requests contract signature payments; tracks and logs documents; interprets contract details; and, provides general administrative support as necessary. Precise attention to detail, strong organizational skill and adaptability are essential to this role.

What you'll do: 

  • Drafting and negotiating author contracts and supplemental documentation.
  • Once executed, filing contracts, amendments, payee changes and other documents associated with author contracts Therefore (uploading signed copies).
  • Entering and maintaining contract data in Biblio.
  • Logging and tracking.
  • Special projects, as needed.

What you'll bring:

  • Prior professional experience and/or educational equivalent
  • Contracts, rights or general publishing experience, in-house experience (including internship) a plus. Interest in the legal and business side of book publishing is ideal.

This role will have an annual salary of $50,000.

This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
