Who are we?

Armoire was born out of MIT's prestigious accelerator program in 2016. Our team is a close-knit group of marketers, engineers, designers, finance whizzes, member experience specialists, merchandisers, stylists, operators, and more. We strive to stay lean and mean, and to always have fun along the way.

What's the role?

Armoire is hiring a Finance Director to own the company's financial operations, reporting, and strategic decision support as a full-time member of the commercial team. This role is designed to bring full-time accountability to both the strategic and execution sides of finance, from lender relationships and cash forecasting down to monthly close and inventory accounting.

The Finance Director will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work closely with the CEO and functional leaders across the business to maintain financial clarity, hit budget and covenant targets, and help leadership stay ahead of risks and tradeoffs. This person will also directly manage or oversee bookkeeping and AP, ensuring execution-level work is handled reliably so that strategic priorities don't get crowded out.

Who are you?
  • 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including experience owning financial operations for a startup or high-growth company; subscription, DTC, or inventory-based business experience strongly preferred
  • CPA and/or CFA preferred, not required
  • Direct experience managing lender relationships, loan covenants (e.g. DSCR), and financial reporting packages for banks or investors
  • Very proficient in Excel, QuickBooks (or similar), and comfortable working across billing/subscription platforms (e.g. Stripe), payroll systems (e.g. Gusto), and BI tools (e.g. Looker)
  • Strong GAAP knowledge, with experience overseeing month-end close, deferred revenue, accrual accounting, and depreciation methodology
  • Numbers-driven with excellent judgment - able to translate ambiguous problems into clear plans and financial narratives for both internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing or mentoring bookkeeping/accounting support staff
  • Experience with vendor negotiation and procurement processes a plus
  • Clear communicator, strong leader, and strategic thinker who can move fluidly between big-picture strategy and detailed execution
Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategic Oversight
  • Serve as Armoire's senior financial decision-support partner to the CCO, CEO, and leadership team
  • Identify financial risks, constraints, and opportunities, and proactively surface tradeoffs to leadership
  • Own the company's profitability growth by partnering with functional leaders to set and hit department budgets
Monthly Close & Financial Reporting
  • Own the monthly close process end-to-end, including review and approval of journal entries
  • Prepare, review, and finalize monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for CPA, bank and leadership review
  • Own all internal and external preparation and communication about Armoire's financial health
  • Ensure GAAP consistency and reporting accuracy across all financial statements
  • Support annual tax filings (1099s, W-2s, corporate returns) in coordination with external CPA
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management
  • Build and maintain the annual budget by month, and rebudget as the business evolves
  • Maintain short- and medium-term cash forecasts; monitor cash burn, runway, and liquidity
  • Own budget-to-actual analysis, variance explanations, and scenario/sensitivity planning
  • Manage cash flow monitoring and accounts payable prioritization
Margin, Cost Structure & Inventory Oversight
  • Own gross margin and unit economics analysis, including CAC/LTV and payback period
  • Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, depreciation schedules, and reserves
  • Coordinate with merchandising/operations to ensure inventory is accurately reflected in the books
  • Identify and drive cost optimization opportunities across the business
  • Own procurement processes for finance-adjacent vendors and services, including contract negotiation, renewal, and terms
  • Implement and manage purchase order processes to ensure spend visibility and budget alignment across departments
  • Partner with functional leaders to evaluate vendor spend, identify consolidation opportunities, and negotiate favorable terms
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with payment terms and contractual obligations
Systems, Controls & Team Management
  • Evaluate and improve finance and accounting systems and tooling
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and review procedures appropriate to company scale
  • Directly manage or oversee bookkeeping, AP, and payroll support (internal staff and/or external providers), including full-cycle AR/AP, bank and credit card reconciliations, and payroll/benefits review
  • Document financial processes and drive process improvement over time
External Partner & Lender Relations
  • Serve as Armoire's primary point of contact for lenders, including managing loan covenant compliance (e.g. DSCR) and preparing financial packages and narrative framing for banks
  • Serve as primary finance point of contact for CPAs and tax preparers, including year-end close and audit/tax preparation support
  • Support fundraising processes, including equity and/or debt financing as needed

Youโ€™ll be part of a mission-driven team reinventing an industry - with data at the core. We offer a highly collaborative environment, meaningful ownership over the company's financial health, and the chance to build the finance function as Armoire scales.
