Location: Urgent Care in Maryland Heights

Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Position Overview

This role involves taking x-rays of specific areas of the human body for diagnostic purposes while providing essential support to the imaging department. The responsibilities are limited to performing plain films and fluoroscopy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate procedures to patients to ensure they understand the process and provide relevant educational materials.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verifying their identity in accordance with established policies.
  • Assist technologists in preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning them appropriately.
  • Help with the organization of patient reports and charts, including filing, delivering, and retrieving documents, as well as matching films to folders.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure to patients.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications, following state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and report any unusual activity, suggesting updates to protocols as necessary.
  • Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and documents to the PACS system, including correct lead markers and patient data.
  • Maintain equipment functionality and report any issues to the appropriate personnel, locking or tagging out equipment when necessary.
  • Contribute to keeping the department clean and organized, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
  • In emergency situations, may perform limited CT procedures if the CT Technologist is unavailable.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and safety while performing duties.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a Radiology Technology program.
  • Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Constantly standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Regularly using hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs frequently.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of patients.
  • Regular reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and twisting movements.
  • Rarely kneeling or sitting.
