Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position will be responsible for all student support and clerical needs of the media center. This position requires the person to be very flexible in accepting assigned tasks by their supervisor with a strong sense of teamwork needed. This position will deal with community members, parents, students and staff on a regular basis and will be expected to  interact with these publics in a professional, friendly, and organized manner.

Starting hourly rate:  $16.00
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Educational training and experience preferred. The responsibilities and duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Each essential function is mandatory to perform this job successfully. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:




  • Assist with online student registration
  • Respond to student, parent, and staff emails
    • Circulation
    • Skyward
    • Laptop/Tablet (iPad)
    • Canvas
  • Assist students with research needs
  • Supervise students
  • Monitor passes
  • Monitor student-aides
  • Assist technology with preparing and distributing laptop/tablet (iPad) and chargers
  • Circulate each period to assure cleanliness of Media Center
  • Print IDs
  • Maintain sign-up calendar of teacher classes in Media Center
  • Manage onsite laptop/tablet (iPad) and charger inventory
  • Collect and inventory laptop/tablet (iPad)
  • Assist technology staff with laptop/tablet (iPad) charger and case troubleshooting/repair
  • Follow protocols from DSC Business Manager for billing
  • Process IncidentIQ helpdesk tickets
  • Assist students, parents, and staff with technology issues
    • Laptop/tablet (iPad), printing, Skyward, Canvas, apps, software, etc.
  • Assist students with circulation
  • Catalog and process books
  • Re-shelve books
  • Process overdue notices
  • Schedule and inventory AV equipment
  • Create checkout protocols
  • Maintain online resources
  • Maintain reference log
  • Order and maintain newspapers and periodicals
  • Complete laminating requests
  • Create resource lists in Destiny
  • Produce monthly statistical reports
  • Assist Media Specialist as directed
    • Provide clerical support for Media Specialist, main office and/or Instructional Coaches
    • Order books, magazines, supplies
    • Manage book fairs
  • Promote programs, including Library Makerspace
  • Update Media Center and/or building communication (website, emails, Twitter, etc.) and publications (course guide, summer school, etc.) and promote use for students and staff
  • Assist where needed as directed by district administrators

Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all clerical equipment.  A basic knowledge of operations for computers, laptops/tablets (iPad), printers, and audio visual equipment is required.
Hours: This position is typically expected to work 190 days per year and between 7 and 8 hours per day. Summer hours/days may be adjusted per the direct supervisor to assure adequate coverage to meet the demands of the School and job. 
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
