Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant/paraprofessional
Location: Ascent Homeschool Enrichment Program,  Centennial, CO 80122
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Dean of Homeschool
Work Hours/Days: Teacher Calendar, Thursdays, 8:00-3:00 pm

Ascent Homeschool Enrichment is a tuition-free academic enrichment program that
supports and enriches a classical home education and cultivates a community of friendship and
learning. The teaching assistant/paraprofessional supports students in the 1st/2nd grade classroom by providing instructional support and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. The teaching assistant will adhere to all of
the policies and values of Ascent Classical Academy Homeschool Enrichment.

Essential Function:

  • Instructional Support: Work with small groups or individual students under the lead
    teacher's direction.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a focused, respectful environment; assist
    with transitions between lessons, snack times, and bathroom.
  • Material Preparation: Help students manage materials, distribute supplies, and help
    clean up throughout the day.
  • Student Safety & Supervision: Monitor students during daily transitions as well as
    lunch and recess.
  • Individual Assistance: Offer extra patience and encouragement to students needing
    help with focus or self-regulation.

Qualifications 

  • Experience working with young children in a classroom, homeschool, church, or childcare setting.
  • Strong communication skills and a warm, flexible attitude

Physical requirement 

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist children actively throughout the day.
