Primary Objectives:

The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing and filing Puerto Rico and U.S. tax returns while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role maintains accurate financial records, analyzes accounting data, supports tax planning initiatives, and assists with audits and regulatory reporting. The Tax Accountant works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely tax filings, minimize tax risks, and uphold the integrity of financial information.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepare and file Puerto Rico and United States corporate income tax returns.
  • Prepare and file Puerto Rico informative returns (Forms 480 series) through SURI.
  • Prepare and file Municipal License Tax Returns (Patentes Municipales).
  • Prepare and file CRIM Tax Returns and estimate payments.
  • Prepare applications and supporting documentation and Annual Reports for Puerto Rico tax incentives with the Department of Economic Development and Commerce.
  • Manage tax accounts and filings through SURI.
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and analyze General Ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting workpapers.
  • Utilize QuickBooks to maintain accounting records and generate financial reports.
  • Respond to tax notices from Hacienda, the IRS, municipalities, and CRIM.
  • Assist with tax planning, compliance, and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain organized tax and accounting records in accordance with Driven policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications:
  • This position requires a BBA in Accounting.
  • Minimum two (2) to (5) years' experience in general accounting procedures.
  • Experience with full accounting cycle, experience with Puerto Rico and United States taxes.
Work Environment:
  • In-office: Main office located in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
  • CPA office environment, which may at times include a fast-paced work atmosphere, frequent phone calls and elevated noise levels.
  • Shifts may include working long hours, holidays, and weekends to complete assigned projects and make deadlines.
  • The use of common office machinery and equipment is commonplace, and may include occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, bending, and kneeling may be required.
  • Long periods of sitting, and occasional standing and walking required and may involve climbing stairs and/or walking up inclines.
  • Position may include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
