GEI Consultants is seeking an Electrical Control Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of electrical and control systems design for infrastructure, water/wastewater, industrial, and municipal projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers, technologists, programmers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed design packages, technical drawings, and specifications that meet regulatory standards and client requirements. 

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare detailed electrical and control system designs for municipal and industrial facilities
  • Develop single-line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings
  • Assist in PLC and SCADA system design and documentation
  • Perform power distribution calculations, load calculations, and equipment sizing
  • Support field investigations, site visits, and construction reviews
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and structural teams to ensure integrated design delivery
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction
  • Ensure designs comply with Ontario electrical codes and standards
  • Support preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • 5 +  years of experience in electrical/control system design (consulting environment preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3+ years using AutoCAD to develop electrical drawings (experience with Revit considered an asset)
  • Experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, and SCADA platforms
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), IEEE and CSA standards
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.

Preferred / Asset Qualifications

  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment facilities
  • Exposure to Arc Flash studies and power system analysis
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Eligibility for CET or P.Eng. (or working toward designation)
