Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

This role supports the Research and Technology team focused on next generation solar tracking systems. You will assist in evaluating the load resistance, stability, and performance of mechanical and structural systems. You will learn to apply fundamental engineering principles and support the development of design methods and tools.

You will work within a systems engineering team and collaborate with component engineers, sustaining engineers, and performance engineers. You will contribute to analysis, modeling, and testing activities under guidance from senior engineers.

Typical work includes supporting system models, assisting with analysis using standard tools, and helping evaluate test results against analytical models.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Support development of engineering test plans for tracker systems and subsystems.

  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation of test results.

  • Help correlate test data with engineering models to improve accuracy.

  • Operate existing engineering tools and support updates or enhancements.

  • Assist in performing mechanical and structural analysis using FEA or similar tools.

  • Contribute to development of models using basic principles of statics and dynamics.

  • Support optimization studies under direction of senior engineers.

  • Document results, assumptions, and findings clearly.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support product development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, internship or academic project experience accepted.

  • Basic understanding of statics, dynamics, and mechanical systems.

  • Exposure to FEA or simulation tools through coursework or internships.

  • Exposure to programming or scripting, such as Python, is preferred but not required.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to follow structured processes and engineering procedures.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from senior engineers.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Internship or project experience related to structural or mechanical analysis.

  • Exposure to renewable energy or solar technologies.

  • Familiarity with CAD tools or basic modeling techniques.

  • Interest in learning simulation tools such as FEA or MBD.
