  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline 
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia 
  • 1-10 years of relevant experience in engineering or a related field 
  • Working knowledge of integrated electrical systems

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.

  • Support major shipbuilding programs, including the River-class Destroyer and the Canadian Coast Guard variant of the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide technical oversight and engineering expertise 
  • Assist in the development of electrical designs, technical specifications, and deliverables 
  • Review engineering documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, classification rules, and shipyard standards 
  • Support the procurement of electrical equipment and systems 
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of testing and commissioning activities 
  • Participate in engineering change management throughout the design and construction lifecycle 
  • Identify, track, and help mitigate technical risks 
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders
