Job Description

The Studio/Equipment Room Manager will staff the equipment room of the school of communication in the Virginia Tech Center for the Arts. This position involves inventory management and basic maintenance of audio and video equipment used by students and faculty in the school of communication. The person in this position may, at the request of instructors, handle occasional duties in the TV studio and computer classrooms. This position will create equipment room student assistant schedules, manage hourly wage student training on check-out policies, including the Connect2 system; assist with inventory and management of fixed assets.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a technology related discipline or equivalent education, training or work experience
  • Experience working with an online reservation system, managing inventory, providing customer support in an educational setting, and working in a high-volume, service oriented office
  • Experience using various Microsoft Office products and multiple online browsers
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use independent judgement
  • Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications with emphasis on electronic media
  • Working knowledge of Connect2 inventory management system
  • Society of Broadcast Engineers membership
