The Position:


Reporting to the Athletics Manager, theAthletic Coordinator - Facilities (ACF) is responsible for the day-to-day operation, scheduling, maintenance, and administration of Redeemer University's athletic facility. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring all athletic spaces provide a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for varsity student-athletes, the campus community, and external facility users.


The ACF supervises a team of student employees, coordinates athletic facility operations, oversees equipment maintenance and inventory, collaborates with internal departments and external vendors, and supports the overall mission of Royals Athletics by delivering an exceptional experience for all facility users.


Position Type - Replacement

FTE- PT role at 50% for 10 months (August - May)



Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not necessarily limited to:


Facilities Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation of all athletic facilities, ensuring they remain safe, clean, organized, and prepared for all users.
  • Develop and administer facility operating procedures and customer service standards.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and schedule student facility staff while fostering a culture aligned with Redeemer University's mission and Athletics values.
  • Coordinate all facility opening, closing, setup, teardown, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain and administer all athletic facility schedules, including varsity practices, competitions, recreation programming, rentals, camps, clinics, and academic use.
  • Coordinate facility space requests with Campus Services and other university departments.
  • Communicate facility schedules and operational changes to coaches, students, staff, and community users.


Facility Maintenance & Equipment

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for all athletic facilities.
  • Liaise with external vendors to inspect, service, and certify fitness, strength and conditioning, and athletic equipment.
  • Oversee the daily operation and continual improvement of the Performance Centre in collaboration with the Strength & Conditioning Coach.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of varsity equipment, fitness equipment, supplies, uniforms, and operational assets.
  • Develop annual equipment replacement plans and provide recommendations for capital purchases.
  • Ensure all athletic equipment remains safe, functional, and competition-ready.


Risk Management & Safety

  • Complete regular facility safety inspections and maintain inspection records.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the Athletics representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures, safety training, and risk management practices for student staff.
  • Ensure all athletic spaces meet competitive and recreational safety standards.


Administrative Responsibilities

  • Administer athletic centre memberships and facility access procedures.
  • Assist with budgeting related to facility operations, maintenance, equipment replacement, and capital projects.
  • Maintain facility manuals, operational documentation, policies, and training resources.
  • Coordinate waiver administration, facility documentation, and operational record keeping.
  • Work collaboratively with Campus Services, Information Technology, Finance, and other university departments to support facility operations.
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission, vision, and Reformed Christian identity of Redeemer University.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during peak athletic seasons.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical aspects of facility operations.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.


Education/Training:

  • Undergraduate degree, college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in athletic facilities, recreation, event operations, or related environments preferred
  • Experience supervising student staff is considered an asset.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certification (or willingness to obtain).
