Legacy Toys

Edina, MN

Full-time

Job description

Legacy Toys is a utopia of toys, games, candy and more — a specialty toy store built to create unique, fun, repeatable experiences for families and kids of all ages. Founded in Minnesota in 2012, we believe a toy store should be somewhere you go to feel something, not just somewhere you buy something. Our team members are part of the experience: we greet warmly, demo and play, share what we love, and send every guest out the door smiling. If you love people, love play, and want to make someone's day — you'll fit right in.

About the role:

As Assistant Store Manager, you're the backbone of the store — keeping things running behind the scenes while staying present on the floor, supporting your team and delighting guests.

What you'll do:

  • Lead by example on the floor — greet guests, answer questions, jump in anywhere
  • Train and develop Associates and Shift Leads; flag progress and concerns to the Store Manager
  • Help implement schedules, policies, and operational goals
  • Manage inventory: receiving, transfers, special orders, and the backroom
  • Keep the floor fully stocked, clean, and shoppable
  • Coordinate daily operations during peak times and cover scheduling gaps
  • Represent the Legacy brand with pride, on and off the clock

What we're looking for:

  • Prior retail experience required; supervisory/lead experience strongly preferred
  • A natural leader who coaches and motivates with warmth
  • Strong communicator at every level
  • Comfortable with inventory, scheduling, and store operations
  • Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
  • Genuine love for people, play, and the Legacy experience

Physical requirements & work environment:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods during a shift
  • Frequently reach, bend, stoop, and use a step stool to stock and retrieve product
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., boxes of stock)
  • Operate a point-of-sale system and handle products with manual dexterity
  • Work in a busy, high-energy retail environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions

Benefits & perks:

Game On Us (a free game of your choice each quarter for eligible team members), a 30% employee discount (some brand exclusions), Earned Sick & Safe Time as required by law, flexible and predictable scheduling, in-store game lending, twice-yearly team swag and events, and a clear path to grow.

Legacy Toys is an equal opportunity employer.

We celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive, welcoming workplace for every team member. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. We provide reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees with disabilities — if you need an accommodation during the application process, please let us know.
