Job description

Apogee Engineering is seeking a full-time Senior Information Protection Specialist.

This position will serve as the technical expert for multiple specialized Information Protection (IP) and acquisition security programs supporting major DoD and classified/highly sensitive USAF defense acquisition and intelligence programs.   The selected incumbent will assist with providing a wide range of security management, analytical, technical and support services for programs managed by AFLCMC/WI Directorate, AFLCMC/WIN Division, and specific ISR programs. 

This is a full-time position located on-site at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) in Dayton, Ohio. 


  • Administer physical, information, industrial, personnel, and OPSEC programs for assigned acquisition activities/systems, including support up to Top Secret/SCI and SAP.
  • Provide security guidance and technical assistance to integrated process teams across all security disciplines.
  • Serve as Special Security Representative (SSR) for the SCIF: vet visitor clearances, manage visitor access and open/close procedures, issue SSR appointment letters, and deliver SSR training to newly assigned government SSRs.
  • Manage and track annual SCIF security training for 200+ personnel to ensure compliance.
  • Supported the ULTRA program: led 50% rewrite of the Security Classification Guide (SCG), provided security clarifications across four working sessions, and presented major security updates at the Program Management Review (MacDill AFB) to support deployment.
  • Provide day-to-day technical security services for a complex acquisition portfolio, implementing and adjusting information, personnel, physical, and industrial security countermeasures as threats evolve.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory security requirements and recommend/implement changes to mitigate emerging risks.
  • Maintain newcomer onboarding and security databases; perform in-processing and out-processing.
  • Maintain an active JPAS account and verify personnel security clearances; process, review for accuracy, and track personnel security investigation requests.
  • Prepare and coordinate security briefings, technical materials, and meeting support for the Directorate and stakeholders.
  • Record, monitor, and drive closure of security program action items, suspenses, and processes.
  • Coordinate DD Form 254 (DoD contract security classification) activities and maintain security program documentation.
  • Assist personnel with CONUS and OCONUS travel clearance and training requirements.
  • Establish and maintain AFRIMS file plans and support electronic records/file management.
  • Produce security-related spreadsheets, briefings, figures, graphics, tables, forms, and reports using Microsoft Office.
  • Conduct physical security inspections of classified facilities, process facility setup/modification paperwork, and operate the complex’s access control system.
  • Verify credentials and access paperwork, issue identity badges, grant authorized access, and enforce strict access control procedures to maintain zero-defect standards.
  • Maintain SCI coordination meetings, agendas, and related administrative support.

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen 
Clearance: Must have an active Top Secret level clearance 

Certification: Security Professional Education (SPED) Security Fundamentals Professional certification or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 
Years of Experience: Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience, five (5) of which must be supporting the DoD

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree

Years of Experience: Fifteen (15) or more years of relevant experience, five (5) of which must be supporting the DoD
