What does an assistant sourcing manager do?

An Assistant Sourcing Manager supports the sourcing and procurement processes within an organization. They help identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure that goods or services meet quality and cost requirements. Their role often involves data analysis, market research, and collaboration with other departments to meet project timelines and business goals. They also assist in resolving supplier issues and maintaining strong vendor relationships.

How does an assistant sourcing manager typically collaborate with other departments during the procurement process?

An Assistant Sourcing Manager regularly works with cross-functional teams such as product development, quality assurance, and finance to ensure that sourcing decisions align with company goals. They may coordinate with the product team to clarify material requirements, consult with quality assurance to vet new suppliers, and work with finance to manage budgets and cost-saving initiatives. This collaboration is key to maintaining transparency, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and optimizing supplier relationships. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for success in these interdepartmental interactions.
