Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking individuals to perform general duties to maintain campus as part of the Facilities team.
Job duties include:
General duties to maintain campus
Painting, drywall repairs, masonry, plumbing repairs, assist the Facilities Manager with various duties as needed to maintain campus
General maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or by the VP of Finance and Administration
Assist with set-up for events including athletics
Assist faculty, staff members and public as needed
Assist with snow removal as assigned
Complete job assignments without close supervision
Work on limited holidays, limited nights, limited weekends as assigned
Complete OSHA 10-hour class & Blood Born Pathogen Training
Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Provides excellent customer service to all stakeholders
Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or by the VP of Finance and Administration
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Knowledge of general maintenance and trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning.
Experience in various skilled trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning.
Ability to operate a wide variety of power equipment, grounds equipment, and custodial equipment
Ability to lift and move furniture, supplies and equipment-50 lbs. minimum
Ability to climb extension ladder for maintenance and trades
Ability to operate snow removal equipment as assigned
Ability to work without close supervision
Ability to follow safety and security procedures
Ability to successfully complete assigned duties in a timely manner
Additional Considerations
High school graduate or GED preferred.
