Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Slot Technician I position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, installation and relocation of slot machines and related devices.  The Technician I's role is to ensure a positive guest experience by maintaining optimal machine performance.  This is an entry-level position with On-The-Job training available. This position is a grade 4/$18.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs simple routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and testing on all gaming devices and signage.
  2. Assists with the installation, removal, break-down, relocation, and set-up of relocated slot machines and stands.
  3. Troubleshoots defective equipment (meter variances, door switches, etc.) to isolate and replace/repair faulty components.
  4. Assists with game conversions and upgrades.
  5. Answers floor calls on slot machines and assists guests with questions and complaints.
  6. Clears bill validator jams, changes ticket paper as needed and performs emergency drops.
  7. Verifies that all gaming devices communicate accurately with internal systems for accounting purposes; researches and resolves issues that arise with same.
  8. Assists all departments in providing outstanding guest service to all patrons; may assist Slot Operations management in resolving guest disputes regarding game devices or related issues.
  9. Performs shop maintenance including troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuit boards, testing, and adjusting loaner units, reprograming progressives and messages, etc. and maintains order and cleanliness in the technical work area.
  10. Maintains proper documentation on repair logs, shift logs, lock, and key logs, etc.
  11. Performs duties in a safe manner; reports any potential safety hazards to management staff.
  12. Develops working knowledge of all Southern Ute Gaming regulations (ICMP's) applicable to job duties.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • One (1) years' experience in a related field (slot machine repair, electronics, circuit boards, automotive, mechanical or computer repair) preferred.  Must have basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Must serve as a Slot Technician I for at least three (3) months to gain proficiency and demonstrate ability to meet minimum qualifications for advancement into a Slot Technician II position or into a Slot Attendant role.
  • Must possess good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must obtain TIPS certification within first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to multitask, work independently as directed, work effectively as a team member and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Must be able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both oral and written forms.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, or holidays.

REASONING ABILITY: 

  • Must be able to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to balance multiple priorities successfully.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Must be able to maneuver around office areas, effectively work in high traffic areas, and respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must have the dexterity to grip and work necessary items (chips, 10-key adding machine, computers, tools, controls, etc.).
  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods and occasionally balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, reach, push and pull. 
  • Must be able to occasionally push, pull, move, or lift up to 150 pounds. 
  • Must have normal vision range and the ability to distinguish colors, letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Must be well groomed and presentable in uniform.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to work in crowded areas containing high noise levels.
  • Occasionally may be required to work near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places.
  • May be exposed to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals and possible risk of electrical shock.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment and in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work under constant surveillance coverage.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Candidates selected for employment will be subject to a pre-employment drug test and employment reference and background checks.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Sky Ute Casino Resort Gaming License.
  • Responsible for maintaining TIPS certification.
  • Must sign confidentiality at time of hire.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including personnel data, gaming regulations and department information.
  • Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino Resort policies and procedures and Gaming Code regulations.
