Job description

Job Title: Salesforce Order Management (OMS) Technical Architect
Location: Hybrid (Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, New York, San Francisco)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview
We are seeking a Salesforce Order Management (OMS) Technical Architect who can lead the design and delivery of end-to-end order lifecycle solutions across complex, enterprise environments.
This is not a traditional Salesforce role. This position sits at the intersection of business operations, system architecture, and integration engineering, focused on solving real-world challenges across order fulfillment, payments, shipping, returns, and customer visibility.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect who can translate business problems into scalable technical solutions and lead cross-functional teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
What You Will Own
You will be responsible for designing and delivering solutions that address post-order complexity at scale, including:
  • Order fulfillment mismatches
  • Payment processing and reconciliation issues
  • Shipment tracking and customer visibility gaps
  • Returns, refunds, and reverse logistics workflows
  • Data consistency across multiple systems

Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Architecture
  • Design and implement complete order lifecycle solutions using Salesforce Order Management (OMS)
  • Define architecture across commerce, service, operations, and backend systems
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance in high-volume environments

Integration Leadership (CRITICAL)
  • Architect and deliver integrations between Salesforce and:
    • ERP systems
    • WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
    • Payment gateways
    • Shipping/carrier platforms
  • Design API-driven and event-driven architectures for real-time data flow
  • Ensure data integrity and synchronization across systems
Post-Order Process Optimization
  • Lead design of workflows across:
    • Fulfillment and shipping
    • Order tracking and customer notifications
    • Returns (RMA), refunds, and exchanges
  • Improve operational visibility and customer experience
Salesforce Technical Leadership
  • Provide hands-on leadership across:
    • Apex development
    • Flows and automation
    • Platform Events
    • CI/CD pipelines
  • Establish best practices for scalable Salesforce OMS implementations
Business & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Lead workshops with business stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Translate operational challenges into technical solutions
  • Communicate architecture decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Enterprise Architecture Mindset
  • Align solutions to broader enterprise architecture strategy
  • Ensure consistency across:
    • Business processes
    • Data models
    • Systems and technology layers

What Success Looks Like
  • Order lifecycle flows operate seamlessly across systems
  • Reduced fulfillment and payment errors
  • Improved customer visibility (real-time tracking, updates)
  • Scalable architecture supporting high transaction volumes
  • Strong alignment between business and technology teams

Required Experience
  • 5-10+ years of Salesforce experience, including architecture roles
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce Order Management (OMS)
  • Proven experience designing end-to-end order lifecycle solutions
  • Strong experience with enterprise integrations (ERP, WMS, payments, carriers)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Apex
    • Flows
    • Platform Events
    • API integrations (REST, event-driven)
  • Experience designing real-time, event-driven systems
  • Strong understanding of data consistency and system orchestration

Preferred Experience
  • Salesforce Architect certifications
  • Experience with Commerce Cloud
  • Background in retail, eCommerce, or high-volume consumer operations
  • Experience solving real-world issues such as:
    • Fulfillment mismatches
    • Payment failures
    • Shipment tracking gaps
    • Returns/refunds complexity

What We're Really Looking For
We are looking for someone who has:
  • Built or fixed complex order management systems at scale
  • Integrated Salesforce with multiple enterprise platforms
  • Solved real operational problems-not just configured systems
  • Led architecture decisions and influenced business stakeholders

What This Role Is NOT
  • Not a pure Salesforce Admin role
  • Not just an Apex Developer
  • Not limited to Sales/Service Cloud configuration

Why This Role Matters
This role directly impacts revenue operations, customer experience, and operational efficiency. You will play a key role in transforming how orders are processed, fulfilled, and delivered across the enterprise.
