Wieland is hiring a Firefighter. The firefighter will perform firefighting duties, emergency medical treatment services, and rescue work in emergency situations in a manner consistent with Wieland’s organizational values. The Firefighter role supports the Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, and Fire Chief with all duties assigned to provide protection to all employees and company property. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $25.64/hr. to $25.64/hr.

Schedule: Rotating 12 hour schedule with built in overtime

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include but are not limited to years of eperience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc.

Responsibilities

Firefighter Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fire, medical and other emergency calls as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on firefighting equipment and property to ensure it is always in good working condition.
  • Perform regular inspections of fire hydrants, extinguishers, firefighting equipment, and other life-saving equipment to ensure they are in proper working order in all East Alton Wieland facilities.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on firefighting techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other emergency response teams.
  • Perform duties with a high level of integrity, responsibility, and commitment to safety.

Firefighter Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A two (2) year college or university degree is preferred but not required.
  • Firefighter Certification from at least one of the following:
  • Illinois State Fire Marshal – Firefighter II, or
  • Illinois State Fire Marshal – Basic Firefighter Operations, or
  • IFSAC/Pro-Board Certification – Industrial Firefighter
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class B) with a clean driving record.
  • EMT/EMR License through the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • CPR/AED credentials as required for the EMT/EMR license.
  • HAZMAT (HAZWOPER) Training & Certification
  • 24-Hours – New hires
  • 8-Hours – Annually
  • Respiratory Protection Training & Certification – New hires/annually/fit test
  • Confined Space/Rope Rescue – New hires/annually
  • Successful completion of an annual comprehensive medical evaluation and physical examination which includes cardiac stress testing
  • Strong communication skills
