JOB LOCATION : EMS Station One
DEPARTMENT: EMS - AMBULANCE SERVICE
SCHEDULE: Full Time,
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responds to calls for service, providing assessment, treatment modalities, and transportation of patients in a variety of controlled and uncontrolled settings. Provides treatment interventions and advanced life support consistent with department guidelines and according to credentials issued by state authorities. Provides emergency care and rescue in a variety of situations where personal safety may be at risk. May be needed to assist with the continuum of care in transferring of patients from one setting to another. Attend required training and certification programs, maintaining certain certifications as required by the department or Medical Center.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Currently certified as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician by the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of EMS and Trauma.
- Must have current and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must complete annual education required by Georgia Department of Public Health Office of EMS and Trauma (OEMST)
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving history in accordance with the Medical Center’s insurance carrier’s Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) will be required upon hire and annually.
- Hazmat Awareness; NIMS ICS Programs 100, 200, 700, 800 within one (1) year of hire.
- The following certifications are Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-Hospital Life Support (PHTLS) and hospital directed Stroke Care course, within 6 months of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS- ADA INFORMATION:
Working conditions are mostly uncontrolled. Must be able to work in the presence of by-standers and inclement weather. Must be able to work in poorly lite areas and inadequate space with limited or no back-up resources. Probably exposure to personal safety risks, communicable disease and high-level stress. Physical abilities include lifting, bending, pushing and pulling without limitations. Must be able to lift and carry a 100-pound stretcher, with patient, using proper techniques to prevent injuries to self and patient. Must be able to carry equipment and travel on foot for several hundred yards. May be required to perform duties for extended periods of time in critical situations.
