What You'll Do (The Fun Stuff & The Fundamentals)
As a Residential Driver, you're the friendly face of GFL and the driving force behind keeping our local neighborhoods clean, green, and running smoothly. You won't just be driving a truck; you'll be steering sustainable change every single day!
  • Master the Machine: Safely operate high-powered residential, side-load, and rear-load collection trucks, along with precision hydraulic systems.
  • Be the Neighborhood Hero: Collect solid waste and recyclables along curbside and backdoor routes with efficiency, care, and a friendly wave to the community.
  • Keep It Smooth & Safe: Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, keeping your rig in top-notch shape and working closely with our maintenance team.
  • Lead by Example: Guide your helper (when applicable), keep cab and vehicle interiors clean, and ensure all safety gear and precautions are on point.
  • Problem Solve on the Go: Spot and tag prohibited materials, keep accurate daily route sheets, and collaborate with supervisors to find smarter, faster routing methods.

What You Bring to the Team
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
  • Safety First Mindset: Ability to meet company safety criteria, perform basic maintenance checks, and maneuver large equipment in tight neighborhood spaces (including precision backing up to 120+ feet).
  • Physical Fitness & Drive: Capability to handle the physical demands of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs repetitively and occasionally up to 100 lbs) while working comfortably in outdoor conditions.
  • Team Spirit: A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a desire to deliver exceptional customer service every day.
