Job description

Litigation Paralegal – Tech-Forward, Team-Centric Career (Hybrid Flex/Remote)
Are you an experienced litigation paralegal who loves digging into complex cases, uncovering critical facts, and working side-by-side with attorneys? Do you find yourself frustrated by outdated firm "silos," manual workflows, and a traditional grind that limits your potential? At Chock Barhoum, we have traded the traditional burnout model for a tech-forward, team-centric approach. We are an expanding civil litigation and insurance defense firm handling a variety of high-stakes state and federal matters across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. We don't just "allow" work-life balance; we engineer it through smarter systems, collaborative support, and a relaxed, informal office environment.
We’ve replaced the rigid atmosphere of typical firms with a supportive and team-oriented culture where paralegals are valued legal professionals. We invest heavily in advanced legal tech to streamline your workflow, utilizing it as a powerful tool to elevate your expertise and not as a crutch to bypass the details. Here, your investigative know-how and keen eye for detail are what drive our defense strategies forward.
Why Chock Barhoum?
  • True Work-Life Balance: We don’t just say it; we live it. We prioritize efficiency and high-quality work product, offering a competitive hourly compensation package, a generous bonus program, and a supportive environment designed to prevent burnout.
  • Flexible Hybrid amp; Fully Remote Options: We offer a flexible hybrid work schedule with remote opportunities to keep you effective. For candidates who are highly organized, exceptionally responsive, and entirely comfortable utilizing our advanced legal technology, we also offer the option for a completely remote work arrangement.
  • Accessible Flex Time: To help balance life's demands during regular business hours - whether it's school runs, appointments, or errands - we offer flexible scheduling and dedicated flex time in addition to regular paid time off.
  • A Culture of "We": We utilize a true team approach where attorneys, paralegals, and assistants collaborate closely. We handle cases as a team and genuinely value input from everyone in the firm.
  • Complex Work, Relaxed Vibe: Dig into challenging, varied, and complex state and federal cases in a friendly, comfortable, and sociable environment that serves as a fantastic forum for professional development.
What You’ll Do
  • Partner on Deep-Dive Case Management: Work side-by-side with attorneys from inception through resolution. You will own case discovery, manage critical deadlines, and take a true investigative approach to managing case mechanics.
  • Investigate with a Keen Eye: Conduct investigations, background checks, and initial case assessments, as well as locate and interview witnesses. You will review case documents in depth to prepare document timelines and medical chronologies with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Uncover the Critical Evidence: Use technology as an accelerator, not a shortcut. You will review and analyze every document with precision, hunting for the potential leads, inconsistencies, or hidden details that can redefine a discovery strategy or turn the tide of a case.
  • Draft with Impact: Draft substantive legal documents, including discovery requests/responses, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and correspondence, under attorney supervision.
  • Expert amp; Trial Prep: Retain and interact with expert witnesses, identify relevant documents for analysis, and collaborate with the trial team on all aspects of mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
What You Bring to the Stage
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of experience as a paralegal in civil litigation, with a demonstrated understanding of personal injury, premises liability and/or construction defect defense matters.
  • Procedural Mastery: In-depth working knowledge of Oregon and/or Washington state and federal rules of civil procedure.
  • Tech Literacy amp; Organization: Highly proficient with Adobe Pro (or similar PDF editors) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). You view technology as a powerful asset to streamline processes and possess the strong organizational skills and high responsiveness necessary to excel in a tech-forward and remote workflow.
  • A "No-Silo" Mindset: You believe that the best results come from collaboration, accountability, and communication. You take ownership of your responsibilities, consistently deliver high-quality work, and thrive when contributing to a diverse and sociable team.
Ready to Upgrade Your Career?

If you are ready to trade the "typical firm" grind for a place where your investigative expertise is valued, your tools are modern, and your time is respected, we want to hear from you. Join Team CB and build a career where you can do the best work of your life without sacrificing your personal life.

Chock Barhoum LLP is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and professional environment for all legal professionals.
