What are Assistant Radiation Safety Officers?

Assistant Radiation Safety Officers (ARSOs) are professionals who support the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) in managing and overseeing radiation safety programs within organizations that use radioactive materials or radiation-producing equipment. Their responsibilities typically include monitoring radiation levels, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, assisting with training personnel, and maintaining accurate records. ARSOs play a crucial role in minimizing radiation risks to workers, the public, and the environment by implementing safety protocols and responding to incidents. They often serve as a point of contact for radiation safety concerns and help with inspections and audits. Their work ensures that institutions meet legal and regulatory requirements for radiation safety.
