Summary

The Senior Quality Control Technician will assist with the planning, implementing and managing the Quality Control program for Ultrapure water (UPW) systems onsite and help support the team on compliance oversight for all phases of the quality program and commissioning of the UPW system.

Reporting Relationships

The Sr. Quality Control Technician reports to the Quality Control Manager and as we progress will start reporting to the Construction Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanical/ plastic welding and metal welding perform inspections and tests on products or materials to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform inspections and quality control assessments on welding and fabrication processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including AWS, ASME, DVS and OSHA regulations.
  • Help develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Control Plan (QCP)
  • Interpret and review blueprints, schematics, and specifications to verify project requirements.
  • Ensure projects meet stringent quality and safety standards, oversee welding processes and ensure adherence to codes and specifications.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records, including weld log, welder test, pressure test, material receiving and other mechanical inspection reports.
  • Communicate findings and collaborate with the project team to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of project audit schedules, discipline activity plans for the quality function, and audit reports (internal and external), noting non-conformances, and verifying effective corrective action and follow up on audit findings and corrective actions recorded.
  • Assist quality manager in developing an orientation program to ensure that the project teams are familiar with the requirements of the project quality plan and quality handbook; including other Quality matters, if required.
  • Collaborating with production teams to address quality issues and improve processes.
  • Maintaining and calibrating inspection equipment and tools.
  • Participating in regular welder training, case study and QA/QC meetings.
  • Monitoring and analyzing quality performance during the procedure.
  • Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues.
  • Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Planning and execution of QC activities in a project
  • Directly supervise our QC team and subcontractor Quality control team.
  • Collaboration with internal construction and safety teams for smooth project execution.
  • Schedule and Coordinate 3rd party, and COP inspection.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports for clients and regular reporting.
  • Is responsible for overseeing assistance of the UPW system in its entirety, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, safety regulations, and project specifications.
  • Work closely collaborating with engineers, subcontractors, and construction managers to resolve any design or implementation issues that arise during the project.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction work to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to the project, including documentation of progress, changes in scope, and any issues that arise during construction.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to construction crews, ensuring that engineering and quality principles are applied correctly on-site.
  • Helping to develop corrective actions, solutions and improvements.
  • Help document and manage punch list process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and proficiency in CAD software for reviewing blueprints and technical documents.
  • Perform quality inspections during equipment installation to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Coordinate installation hold points, witness inspections, and final acceptance with clients and subcontractors.
  • Verify installation documentation, redlines, and turnover packages are complete and accurate before system handover.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, a plus.

Job Requirements

  • Willingness to work 10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week during peak times.
  • During non-peak times, the schedule requires 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.
  • Flexibility requires working weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Possible out-of-state travel (for factory inspections, etc.) approximately 30 days per year.
  • This position is classified as Non-Exempt, meaning employees are eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
  • Overtime may be required during peak and non-peak times and will be compensated in accordance with applicable labor laws.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to create documents using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • 3+ years in a CWI/QC role within an industrial setting as plus
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and industry standards; strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Team-oriented, safety-conscious, and proactive in identifying and solving quality issues
  • Experience working as a QC technician for a construction contractor at TSMC's Arizona factory, as plus.
  • Speaking Chinese, as plus.
  • ASQ certification, as plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to ascend and descend 20 ft cage ladder.
  • Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, and standing for sustained periods of time
  • Strong visual acuity is required, with the ability to see small print, symbols, and measurements.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish fine details and detect defects or inconsistencies in products, materials, or components.
  • Must possess good color vision and depth perception for accurate inspection of items.
  • Ability to perform detailed work with high attention to visual accuracy, and ability to identify potential quality issues.
