Quality Food Safety Manager - Clinton, IA
This is an exempt level position. On site
Position Summary:
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of individuals that oversee the quality and product safety programs to ensure compliance with ADM, regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Direct Reports include QC staff and Lab Manager.
  • Verify quality and product safety checks are properly completed to meet procedural requirements
  • Verify high risk activities are being completed before shipment of products
  • Schedule monitoring activities such as carryover studies, uniformity studies, scale checks, and traceability
  • Monitor products for quality parameters
    • Communicate to production (and Regional QFS Manager as appropriate) when product falls out of specification, document any noticeable discrepancy, take corrective actions to eliminate the issue
  • Prepare the facility for compliance during customer audits and third party certifications (FSSC, GMP+, etc.)
    • Lead the facility during these customer audits and third party certifications
  • Provide quality trainings to new hires, contractors and refresher training as needed and maintain training records
  • Manage monthly GMP plant inspections per divisional requirements
  • Investigate manufacturing errors and complete proper reports including CAPA reports.
    • Use deviation reports to justify the disposition of the product and approve the release or disposal of the product
  • In partnership with Operations, conduct complaint investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
    • Develop a plan to eliminate the root cause and follow through with implementation
  • Ensure equipment validation procedures for high risk products are completed
  • Oversee Pest Control Program
    • Follow up on recommendations and Corrective Actions
  • PCQI Coordinator
    • Maintain the food safety plan, ensure control points are being managed per program requirements, risk assessments are accurate and up to date
    • Coordinate routine food safety meetings and management reviews
  • Manage product recalls from the plant level with guidance from divisional resources when necessary
  • Develop and maintain site specific work instructions
  • Lead the facility through FDA and scored internal audits
  • Collaborate with QC Regional Manager regarding direction for sample retains and product testing required for divisional programs
  • Head Policy Platform.
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of FDA and state regulatory requirements
  • Trained in Preventive Controls for Human Food and/or Animal Food preferred
  • Highly organized
  • Effective use of Microsoft office applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues
Education Requirements:
  • BS degree in Food Science or related experience AND/OR 5+ years in quality experience in feed/food
Required Experience:
  • Prior Management Experience
