Job description

Quality Control Manager – Food Manufacturing

Lebanon, NJ

110 - 120K

Overview

A growing dairy manufacturing operation is seeking a Quality Control Manager to take ownership of food safety and quality systems from the ground up.

This is not a maintenance role — we are looking for someone who has built or significantly structured a QC/QA function, not just managed an existing one.

You will lead quality, food safety, and compliance across the plant while establishing the systems, procedures, and standards needed for long-term success.

What You'll Own

  • Build and structure the Quality Control and Food Safety function
  • Develop and implement SOPs, testing procedures, and documentation systems
  • Oversee sanitation programs and plant quality operations
  • Lead and maintain SQF certification (acting as SQF Practitioner)
  • Manage HACCP plans and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Oversee lab operations, environmental monitoring, and pathogen programs
  • Establish KPIs, reporting, and quality metrics
  • Prepare the plant for audits, inspections, and certifications
  • Train and lead QC staff

What You Bring

  • Food manufacturing experience (required)
  • Experience building or restructuring a QC / QA department
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • HACCP
    • Sanitation
    • GMP
    • FSMA
  • SQF Practitioner experience (or ability to step into the role immediately)
  • Hands-on experience in plant environments
  • Ability to operate both strategically and in the weeds

What Makes This Role Different

  • You are not inheriting a polished system — you are building one
  • High ownership and visibility within the operation
  • Direct impact on plant readiness, compliance, and product quality
  • Opportunity to establish long-term structure and standards
