Job description

SUMMARY: The Quality Control Inspector III is an advanced level mechanical inspector role. The primary function of the role is to inspect components and assemblies for dimensional, aesthetic and workmanship characteristics. Simultaneously, the Quality Control Inspector III will verify documentation is complete and accurate from internal and external suppliers. This team member will perform all mechanical inspection using CMM, micrometers, calipers height gages and hardness testing equipment and will log data as required. The Quality Contril Inspector III will interpret measuring results passing confirming product and will generate non-conformance documentation. Advanced GD&T is required in this role in order to be proficient at CMM programming and interpretation of results/setups. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all work in manner that is safe for you and fellow team members and is compliant with Vitesse System safety policies.
  • Follow all quality procedures, work instructions, and documents pertaining to your job and department.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation required with order.
  • Verify all traveler sign-offs, SPC sheets have been completed and signed off in accordance with good documentation practices.
  • Verify part number, revision, expiration dates and other data fields on supplier certification match work order or purchase order requirements.
  • Clock in/out to job operation promptly after assignment/completion recording quantity completed.
  • Inspect parts to blueprint specifications and workmanship standards.
  • Verify that all company and personal inspection equipment and tools being used are in calibration.
  • Report non-conformances to Quality Supervisor and Generate Non-Conformance reports for all discrepant material.
  • Identify potential issues/problems and collaborate with engineering and operations on corrective action investigations.
  • Independently operate equipment & tasks within allotted times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Proficient with inspection tooling: height gages, calipers, micrometers, and hardness testing.
  • Proficient with programming, setup, and operation of CMM equipment including interpretation of inspection reports thereof.
  • Inspection reports as required.
  • Proficient use of Advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (multiple datums, complex relationships, etc.).
  • Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the time frame specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime in the evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 4 -5years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
