Job Summary
The Test Design Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for the development and implementation of functional tests for new and existing ADTRAN products.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design or assist in the design of hardware, including special test instruments as needed to support new product interface and testing requirements.
  • Develop or assist in the development of advanced software applications to support current and future hardware designs.
  • May generate test procedures, implement test hardware, and automate tests in C++ and Python.
  • Design or assist in the design of digital and analog circuits, simulation and debugging.
  • May research fiber-optic technologies, wireless communications, and/or additional innovations as applicable to ADTRAN products.
  • May be involved in firmware development.
  • Should have the ability to fault isolate product failures to the circuit and component level, and to guarantee adequate test coverage in a high-speed production environment.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering, Computer Science,) required.
  • 2-5 years of professional engineering experience is required
  • Prior experience should demonstrate specialized knowledge within the Engineering field and ability to lead projects.
  • C/C++ object-oriented programming experience, standard debugging methodologies, hardware design, software version control tools, communications test development tools (MIB browsers, terminal emulation packages, network monitoring software), experience required.
  • Must be able to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Science) preferred.
  • Knowledge in basic communications technologies (Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, ATM, switches, routers) and in telecommunications carrier technologies (DSLAM, xDSL, DS1, DS3, SONET, SDH, EoCu) is preferred. JAVA and Perl experience is a plus.
