Job Location: Barton College - Wilson, NC 27893

Barton College is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Business Analytics & Applied Artificial Intelligence with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will lead a range of courses in the Business Analytics & Applied Artificial Intelligence program, with a mix of seated and online/hybrid courses.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching students in a liberal arts setting. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student recruitment, maintaining a program of active student engagement, meaningful participation in the life of the School of Business & Innovation and Barton College, and a commitment to active contributions in the profession. These contributions may include mentoring student projects, development of pedagogy that engages students and fosters deep learning, and applied projects that connect analytics and AI to real-world business problems.

Essential Functions
  • Teach up to 24 (twenty‑four) credit hours annually of coursework in Business Analytics & Applied Artificial Intelligence (BA&AAI).
  • Sustain currency and relevancy through professional engagement and industry partnerships.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Serve as an active faculty member of the Barton College School of Business Analytics & Innovation.
  • Support student recruitment including participation at on‑campus open houses and development of program promotion collateral.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to working with students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
  • Demonstration of excellence in teaching.
  • Ability to lead a wide range of Business Analytics & Applied Artificial Intelligence courses (e.g., applied AI, AI ethics, business analytics, data visualization, and predictive modeling).
  • Under the direction of the Dean, ability to develop curriculum for new programs including certificates and micro‑credentials.
  • Collaborative disposition with a commitment to service.
  • Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course objectives.
  • Demonstrated comfort applying artificial intelligence tools and techniques in business and decision‑making contexts.
Candidate Profile
  • A terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA preferred; ABD considered) in Business Analytics, Data Science, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • A demonstrated ability to deliver applied learning experiences including hands‑on projects with analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Tableau/Bower BI) and AI frameworks.
  • Special interests and experiences in teaching other subjects compatible with the BA&AAI program and the needs of the School of Business & Innovation will be considered.
