Description:
We are seeking a System Engineer 5 to support a cloud-based software development team working to improve metadata analysis on the customers unclassified analysis environment while addressing some of the Cybersecurity Directorate (CSD) Key Initiatives. The System Engineer role is a hybrid position that bridges the gap between integration and analytic developer teams and will be considered a Cyber/IA/Network Cyber Analysis SME.
This engineer will work with the STO Analytic Lead to design innovative analytic techniques to improve anomaly/change detection, data reduction, correlation, enrichment, graph analysis, and long-chaining. The engineer should be comfortable working in a fast-paced innovative team environment leveraging agile software development methodologies and best practices to capture and triage requirements, design system architecture, and to support prototyping and development in a cloud-based infrastructure. The ability to translate business questions into technical specifications is also desired. You will also be required to provide specific input to the software components of the system design to include software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis from system level to individual software modules.

Required Qualifications:
TS/SCI Polygraph
A Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus fifteen (15) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of general systems engineering experience (any Process Area).
OR
A Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus thirteen (13) years of systems engineering experience.
*Note 1 - Examples of Qualified engineering fields include: Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management.
*Note 2 - Examples of related disciplines include: Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of developing data transformations pre-processors and data flow management leveraging NiFi
  • Strong understanding of COTS/GOTS query and visualization tools
  • Working understanding of code and script (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Strong experience with cloud based data solutions (AWS and Azure preferred)
  • Ability to translate business questions to technical specifications
  • Strong communication skills
