Western State Hospital, part of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), has been a leader in psychiatric treatment since 1828. WSH is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. Just 30 minutes from vibrant university towns, our hospital serves adults with serious mental health needs and is nationally recognized for our Psychosocial Rehabilitation "Learning" programs.
WSH provides a modern clinical setting and a therapeutic environment for patients, supported by highly qualified staff. Position Overview:
Western State Hospital is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant/Therapy Assistant to work with the physical therapist to improve client's function, by eliminating functional limitations and preventing disability and maximize the client's functional independence while respecting their psychiatric function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide PT intervention to clients based on physical therapy evaluation; providing mobility consults; procuring assistive devices and adjustments as needed
- Provide documentation for PT services to justify services and document progress and complete assigned unit client initial assessments in conjunction with other licensed rehab staff
- Produce written evidence that PSR interventions have been carried out
- Develop and implement PSR group interventions across all PSR Learning Centers
- Order clinic supplies as needed
