Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Project Engineer (PE) in Spartanburg, SC. The Project Engineer supports both preconstruction and construction phases by managing technical documentation, performing take-offs, and ensuring project compliance with plans and specifications. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with a background in construction management or engineering who can effectively coordinate between field operations, subcontractors, and project leadership.

Job Type: Permanent

Annual Salary: $55,000 to $75,000 Annually BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed material take-offs using Bluebeam and Planswift and assist the preconstruction team with subcontractor bid analysis.
  • Manage and maintain critical project logs, including the Action Item Matrix, AVE Logs, RFI logs, and submittal status reports.
  • Review construction plans for constructability and communicate inconsistencies or cost-saving opportunities to the project team via RFIs.
  • Follow up on, review, and submit shop drawings, samples, and material lists to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Attend project meetings, including Owner/Architect and subcontractor coordination sessions, and distribute accurate meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager to develop and update project schedules and identify milestones to prevent delays.
  • Publish weekly progress reports for assigned projects and document field activities through photos and videos.
  • Analyze field work methods and procedures to advise the Superintendent on improvements to production efficiency.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for trade contractors and compiling documentation for project closeout and training.
  • Ensure a culture of safety by complying with and implementing company and OSHA safety policies across all project activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent education and field experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, project specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Technical skills in Bluebeam, Planswift, and construction-related Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop professional relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling programs is preferred.
  • At least one year of previous field experience in a construction environment is preferred.
  • Ability to understand and convey basic Spanish commands and instructions is a plus.
  • Flexible mindset with a willingness to modify plans and behavior to meet project goals.

Physical Requirements:
