Title: Assistant Project Manager 

Reports to: Project Executive

Department: Operations

Location(s): Corporate or regional office

FLSA: Exempt (Salary)


BASIC PURPOSE

Assistant Project Manager (APM) is the Client’s day to-day single point of contact during the construction phase.

APM is responsible for execution and management of Company’s overall plan for the project.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Kickoff APM will participate in project turnover from estimating, assist PM in overall plan development and commit to successfully executing the project.


2. Project Execution APM is responsible for executing the project plan to meet the quality specified, schedule, and budget expectations. APM is responsible for the following:
- Continuous communication with client to review progress and discuss any design changes, resolving problems of coordination, schedule and priorities.
- Takes the lead in working with all internal company departments including sales, estimating, detailing, accounting, purchasing, shop fabrication, field installation, and senior management.
- Responsible for ensuring that clear and concise RFI’s are resolved and field dimensions verified.
- Responsible for informing each Production Department of budgeted hours and required delivery dates.
- Responsible for coordinating Vendors and subcontractors.
- Weekly update for production schedule for each project.
- Develops all projects forecasts, schedules, change order estimates, financial reports, and reconciles all commitments that exceed project budgets.
- Monitors job costs weekly and reviews monthly WIP with senior management.
- Responsible for SOV and monthly billing information to accounting.
- Maintain excellent project records, reports, logbooks and daily forms.


3. Project Closeout - APM is responsible for the following:
- Close out all remaining documentation in accordance with contract.
- Demobilize Project – announce project completion to Management.


EDUCATION

Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent; B.S. in Engineering, preferred. Experience with general contractors and / or subcontractors and steel fabrication / erection, beneficial.


EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

Specific experience/requirements:


1. Assistant Project Manager: A minimum of 2 years of experience in project/construction management,
field foreman / field engineering in a small project environment. Capable of working on projects
ranging from $100K - $500K.


2. Beneficial to have experience in planning, budgeting and/or assisting in large projects with multiple trades and complex coordination of construction process. Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, presentations, and charts/graphs). Must be able to read instructions and numbers and write legibly in English. Must demonstrate an excellent level of reliability and degree of effectiveness in written and oral communication skills. Provide assistance to Senior Project Management.
