Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Texas buildings practice that provides Interior Design, Architecture, and Buildings Engineering services with a long history and deep commitment to the education sector. Our Houston, Texas office is seeking a mid-level Interior Design professional to join our interdisciplinary team.
The primary role of the Mid-level Furniture Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into a cohesive interior design solution with moderate guidance and supervision. The Furniture Planner/Designer will be responsible for activities related to programming, planning, design and specifications of contract furniture, systems products and other interior furnishings artwork and accessories (FAA). This person will develop plans to incorporate the client's space requirements within the established project schedule and budget. This individual will collaborate with a larger team that includes the client representatives, project managers, designers, architects, engineers, general contractors and furniture vendors and dealers for successful project delivery. This person will provide fit and finish selections and recommendations for client's FAA that complement other architectural design elements and finishes. The Furniture Designer will make presentations to clients and will communicate in verbal and written form to all team members throughout the life of a project. This person will be involved in projects within the following market sectors: Airports, Civic, Education, Health, Government, Science & Tech, Workplace/Office, Hospitality and Multi-family.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact during furniture design phase, both internally and externally.
  • Lead client programming, budgeting, scheduling, concept development and presenting design solutions for approval.
  • Develop space plans, furniture specifications, construction documents and RFP packages using Revit and firm standards.
  • Manage bidding, procurement, delivery and installation, ensuring successful project completion and client occupancy.
  • Support clients in developing their office, space and furniture standards.
  • Support change management processes for clients.
  • Coordinate with clients move managers.
  • Ability to travel and participate in full day(s) of installation.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects at various stages of design.
  • Advocate for design excellence and creativity within the practice of interior design, through the lens of sustainable practices.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams and coordinate work with consultants, vendors and other partners.
  • Investigate processes and technology to improve efficiency.
  • Follow established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Comply with professional ethical standards and codes.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field is required.
  • Licensed or pursuing Interior Design Licensure is preferred.
  • Portfolio required.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience is preferred (May be a combination of work experience and furniture industry experience)

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
