The Project Manager for Hospital Quality acts in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director of Quality & Outcomes, the Hospital Executive Team, and the Regional and Network Quality Teams by providing leadership and support for a variety of quality improvement initiatives. The role is responsible to plan, supervise, and manage workgroups in dyad or triad partnership with other physician and nursing leaders to enhance quality performance based upon organizational goals. Responsibilities include providing project management leadership, as well as establishing and maintaining outstanding project management tools and practices for quality-based initiatives. The Project Manager for Hospital Quality collaborates with teams to achieve transformational and sustainable outcome improvements using project/program management, process and system mapping, reliability science data driven strategies, evidence-based best practices, and quality improvement strategies.
As our third Project Manager, you will join a collaborative team reporting directly to the Director of Quality and Outcomes, partnering on the initiatives that drive our clinical outcomes, publicly reported performance, and value-based care results. In this role, you will lead cross-functional projects spanning clinical operations, quality improvement, and care coordination-working closely with physician leaders, nursing, care management, and health information management to move projects from concept to sustained results. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced hospital environment and assist in translating data into actionable plans.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Project Manager for Hospital Quality at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
  • Plan, direct and coordinate project activities, manage resources and sequence activities to ensure that objectives are accomplished within project timeframes.
  • Build a cohesive project plan, engaging input of others in defining tasks and estimating the duration of all related activities. Create and execute project plans, revising through formal change control as appropriate.
  • Develop metrics in collaboration with project leaders and teams. Manage scorecards and dashboards relating to process and outcomes measures to ensure project teams track performance against goals.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Perform literature reviews to establish best-practices that are relevant to organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with Physicians, executives, managers, clinical teams and other staff by analyzing user needs, applying logical reasoning, defining system requirements, and developing documentation.
  • Maintain project focus by reordering tasks, shifting priorities, engaging resources, or otherwise managing unexpected occurrences.
  • Employ change control skills and manage to the expectations of end-users and management.
  • Create and maintain timely and thorough progress reports that include key driver diagrams, run charts, PDSA testing, agile sprint planning and/or scrum boards, and relevant documentation.
  • Works with all levels of leadership and front line staff throughout Hackensack Meridian Health; including practice/department/division chairs, administrators, physicians, nurses, secretarial staff, residents, desk staff and all levels of health professionals across the network.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor`s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration or other related field.
  • 1-2 years of project management experience.
  • Experience in planning, leading teams, presentations to senior management, and working with cross- functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Experience with Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), Agile or other Project Management approach.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to facilitate cross functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Master`s Degree or MBA / MHA / MPA / MPH.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Sigma training/certification.
  • Experience with Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) quality improvement framework.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
  • CAPM, PMP or PgMP Certification.
