We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with both clients and candidates by delivering an exceptional recruitment experience rooted in honesty, transparency, and market expertise.

THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a leading construction and development organisation to hire a Project Accountant for their Richmond-based team.

This is not a traditional corporate accounting role.

The successful candidate will be embedded within project operations, acting as a key financial partner to Project Managers and supporting the financial success of large-scale construction projects from start to finish.

We are seeking an individual with hands-on construction project accounting experience who understands job costing, subcontractor payments, commitments, cost codes, and project financial controls. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborating closely with operations teams.

This position offers exposure to some of the region's largest and most complex construction projects, ranging from major residential developments to commercial and infrastructure projects valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the day-to-day financial administration of multiple active construction projects

• Review and process subcontractor progress draws, vendor invoices, and project-related expenditures

• Ensure subcontractor payments are accurate, approved, and processed within contractual deadlines

• Maintain project commitments, cost codes, budgets, and job costing records

• Track project costs and identify variances against budgets and forecasts

• Support Project Managers with financial reporting, project analysis, and cost reviews

• Prepare client billings and assist with project cash flow management

• Monitor project financial performance throughout the project lifecycle

• Collaborate with project teams to resolve billing, costing, and payment-related issues

• Ensure accurate project reporting and financial controls are maintained across multiple projects

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

• $70,000 - $85,000 base salary

• Annual profit-sharing program

• Health and dental benefits from day one

• Pension matching program

• Employee share purchase program

• Three weeks vacation to start

• Clear progression path into Senior Project Accountant positions

• Exposure to landmark projects valued between $150M and $500M+

• Join a collaborative and supportive team environment

• Long-term career growth within a stable and highly respected construction organisation

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 2+ years of Project Accounting or Construction Accounting experience

• Strong understanding of job costing and construction project financial processes

• Experience managing subcontractor payments and vendor relationships

• Exposure to cost codes, commitments, change orders, progress billings, and project reporting

• Experience supporting Project Managers and operational teams

• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines simultaneously

• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Experience within construction, development, infrastructure, or engineering environments is highly preferred

We are particularly interested in speaking with current Project Accountants, Construction Accountants, Assistant Project Accountants ready for the next step, or Development Accountants with strong job costing and project accounting exposure.
