Job description

Position Title: Construction Project Manager

Reports to: Senior Director, Construction & Maintenance  

Job Type: Full Time

Status: Exempt

Location: Candidate must be located or willing to relocate to an area within the Majors Management footprint of stores (Southeast or parts of Midwest, United States)  

Travel: Frequent travel required (approximately 50%)

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day construction and successful completion of all projects. Primary responsibilities for this position entail assisting with scope of work, budgeting, bidding, construction supervision and project turnover.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage construction projects from conception to completion
  • Execute construction of projects to meet or reduce anticipated job costs. Seek opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality of construction, under remittance, or delayed timelines
  • Assist with completion of final construction/permit plan sets
  • Solicit bids from contractors and other vendors
  • Review all construction drawings, schedules, and material orders and provide timely feedback on any issues or concerns
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and crews to meet schedule requirements and project timelines.
  • Manage contractors, subcontractors, state agencies, and other field personnel as needed, in a manner that fosters good relationships
  • Visit the job site regularly to evaluate the sold design for issues and to ensure compliance with building and safety regulations
  • Submit a weekly status report for each project to leadership, to include (but not limited to) progress photos, budget, progress to-date and expected completion schedule for all jobs to stakeholders
  • Adhere to Company Bid Policy when selecting general contractors
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks
  • Ensure safety requirements are maintained on all job sites in accordance with OSHA
  • Process requests for information (RFIs) and change order requests, ensuring files contain all necessary documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • A high standard of customer service with a people first mentality; every guest and team member deserve a great experience
  • Experience in construction project management software preferred, and other tools in normal use for construction, design and real estate-related work preferred
  • A sense of urgency balanced with an eye for quality and detail
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Ability to monitor resources, job schedules, and materials in an environment of multiple competing demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to coordinate people + tasks
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience of project management in construction, architecture/design and/or real estate development
  • Experience in retail, convenience stores with food concepts, underground storage tanks, or commercial experience preferred
