Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Project Architect for immediate employment in our Virginia Beach office.  This position will work on a variety of interesting projects within the Federal sector, private, and public safety.

Primary job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
  • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
  • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
  • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets.
  • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
  • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
  • May review and approve conceptual designs.
  • May assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • An Architecture license is required for this position, (preferably in VA with NCARB).
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in DoD and Federal Government related projects, UFCs, and standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in public safety-related projects such as police facilities, emergency operation centers, emergency communication centers, and training facilities.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suites, or other related graphic software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
