Job Summary: Responsible for supporting company leadership in overall business operations by overseeing and managing all VDC field technologies for data center construction projects. The VDC Manager leads the training, deployment, and standardization of Reality Capture workflows across the VDC department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • The VDC Manager will be primarily involved with performing the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Use discretion and independent judgment and professional skills to perform daily duties and to resolve issues.
  • Partner with Director of VDC and Lead BIM Manager, including local and remote support teams.
  • Serve as first point of contact for all field and office personnel when scheduling VDC Technology.
  • Responsible for successful deployment of VDC initiatives and VDC technology platforms.
  • Supervise and direct VDC Specialists' daily activities while providing ongoing training and support.
  • Aid project personnel in implementing the VDC program activities on their projects through proactive training, support, and examples.
  • Review construction schedules and develop aligned VDC schedules directly with field management.
  • Collaborate with all project disciplines.
  • Lead research and development of UAS technologies.
  • Direct, assign, and supervise UAS tasks of other employees as needed.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies related to reality capture and evaluate for potential business use.
  • Develop documentation of UAS governance, standards, checklists, best practices, and hardware/software standards.
  • Track annual Alston pilot licenses, hardware, and insurance compliance.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and format imagery and point cloud data acquired from UAS or ground-based platforms.
  • Lead research and development of 3D Scanning.
  • Direct, assign, and supervise 3D Laser Scanning tasks of other employees as needed.
  • Collaborate and assist Preconstruction on upcoming bids and pursuits.
  • Identify and lead ways to apply technology to increase our value to the project team.
  • Lead research and development of Robotic Layout.
  • Direct, assign and supervise RTS Layout tasks of other employees as needed.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies related to Robotic Layout and evaluate for potential business use.
  • Develop documentation of Robotic Layout governance, standards, checklists, best practices, and hardware/software standards.
  • Apply various other software and hardware applications to solve complex construction and engineering problems on projects.
  • Present VDC services to potential clients, owners, and stakeholders as requested.
  • Participate in strategic planning for VDC technologies.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in the field of technology through literature and attending conferences.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Education, Experience, and Licensing/Certifications:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • Minimum of 6years of applicable experience working on data center construction projects.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in: UAS, 3D Laser Scanning, LiDAR or Geomatics, imagery acquisition, photogrammetry, orthophotos and registration, 3D geospatial data, point clouds, development of digital models, Trimble Real
  • Works, Recap Pro, Revit, Navisworks, and in utilizing Reality Capture Software.
  • Proven experience successfully supervising others.
  • Valid State-issued driver's license and satisfactory driving record and vehicle insurance which meets Alston
  • Construction liability coverage requirements.
  • OSHA 10-hour Safety Certification.
  • Possess a FAA Part 107 UAS License.
