Job description

Instructional Coach
Report To: Director Educational Software/Science & Social Studies

Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 Based on experience

Instructional Technology:
  • A sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel – creating, organizing, and filtering large amounts of data.
  • Ability to create teacher training handouts.
  • Basic knowledge of programs and or curriculum used by students and staff or willingness and ability to learn information quickly and then turn that knowledge into training for teachers and students. Programs include but are not limited to:
    • CAPIT reading
    • Google Education – Google Classroom and helpful add-ons such as Pear Deck or Near Pod, etc. 
    • STEMscopes Science
    • Atlas Rubicon Social Studies through Wayne Resa
    • IXL
    • Flocabulary
    • Brain Pop
    • Teachers Pay Teachers
    • Zoom
    • The ability to organize, understand, and communicate the purpose of each program in order to assist teachers and students.
  • With guidance and training, be able to train, assist, and guide teachers on how to use instructional technology available in our district.
Paraprofessional/Intervention/Small group or Center Support:
  • Capable of working with small groups of students that need additional classroom support in both math and reading – certified teachers preferred that have a sound foundational reading knowledge.
  • With guidance, building learning centers – including creating worksheets, and instructions for both students and teachers.
  • Assembling center materials, including distributing and collecting center materials.
  • Creating and maintaining an inventory or center/intervention materials.

Science Instructional Coach:
  • Assist coach in the preparation of training materials.
  • Familiarize self with curriculum materials and resources.
  • Ability to learn and communicate grade-level curriculum.
  • Train, assist, and guide teachers on how to implement the curriculum within the district
  • Assist with M-Step preparation in testing grades (5th & 8th) through curriculum intensives, tutoring and modeling.
  • With guidance, show the ability to observe, model, and team teach in classrooms in an effort to push student achievement and build teacher capacity.

Social Studies Instructional Coach:
  • Assist coach in the preparation of training materials.
  • Familiarize self with curriculum materials and resources.
  • Ability to learn and communicate grade-level curriculum.
  • Train, assist, and guide teachers on how to implement the curriculum within the district
  • Assist with M-Step preparation in testing grades (5th & 8th) through curriculum intensives, tutoring and modeling.
  • With guidance, show the ability to observe, model, and team teach in classrooms in an effort to push student achievement and build teacher capacity.

District Assessments:
NWEA – some knowledge/willingness to learn about the NWEA system and assessments given to students K-8
  • Setting up of computer labs.
  • Support with cleaning up and organizing the district Mistar export in order to upload this information into NWEA for each district assessment (this is done in Excel)
  • Some assessment type of duties may include but are not limited to:
    • creating testing schedules 
    • administering/proctoring the NWEA test to classes
    • managing class behavior while administering tests
    • explaining the assessment to teachers
    • analyzing data from test results

PSAT 8/9 – ability to support the district planning and administration of state test
M-step – ability to support the district planning and administration of state test
