Job description

Crypto Mining Hardware Repair Technician

Position Summary

The Crypto Mining Hardware Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing cryptocurrency mining equipment and related electronic components. This role requires strong electronic repair skills, including board-level diagnostics and component-level repairs, to ensure mining equipment is restored to optimal operating condition. The technician will work with ASIC miners, hashboards, power systems, and other electronic assemblies while maintaining quality, safety, and documentation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair cryptocurrency mining equipment, including board-level and hashboard repairs.
  • Perform component-level diagnostics using schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, and other electronic testing equipment.
  • Identify and replace defective components, including ASIC chips, MOSFETs, capacitors, resistors, voltage regulators, connectors, and other surface-mount devices.
  • Troubleshoot power, voltage, communication, cooling, and hash-rate performance issues.
  • Perform precision soldering, desoldering, rework, and micro-electronic repairs on PCBs and hashboards.
  • Test repaired equipment to verify functionality, stability, and performance before returning units to service.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure repairs meet operational and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate repair logs, diagnostic reports, and inventory records.
  • Analyze repair data to identify recurring failures, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Follow established ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), electrical safety, and quality-control procedures.
  • Collaborate with operations and technical teams to minimize equipment downtime and maximize mining efficiency.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, and technical documentation as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment at the board or component level.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Experience performing soldering, desoldering, and PCB rework.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed repair records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities.

Preferred

  • Prior experience repairing ASIC cryptocurrency miners (Bitmain, MicroBT, Canaan, or similar).
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with hashboard diagnostics and ASIC chip replacement.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, voltage regulation circuits, and thermal management systems.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, data center, mining, or electronics repair environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and work at a repair workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform detailed work requiring manual dexterity and visual inspection of small electronic components.
  • Ability to work safely around powered electronic equipment and testing devices.
