Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to support our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. Whether you're an experienced technician or a driven individual eager to learn, we offer a supportive environment with opportunities for growth and hands-on training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather details and chief complaint

  • Conduct preliminary eye exams, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and basic refraction.

  • Perform diagnostic tests such as OCT and visual field testing.

  • Administer eye medications under provider direction.

  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.

  • Accurately document patient data in electronic health records (EHR).

  • Educate patients on eye care and medication usage.

  • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow.

  • Enter details alongside of MD into EHR

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).

  • Experience: At least 1 year in an ophthalmic setting is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in diagnostic testing and ophthalmic equipment.

  • Knowledge of ocular anatomy, common eye diseases, and treatment protocols.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Willingness to train motivated candidates with a long-term commitment preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program or a college degree is strongly desired.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.

  • Flexible and adaptive to evolving clinic needs.

  • Reliable transportation to commute to Glenview, IL 60026.
