Job Title: Marine Service Assistant   

Reports To: Service Manager

Facility: Mystic, CT

Compensation: Hourly Rate Commensurate with Experience

Job Class: Full Time or Part Time

Position Overview

The Marine Service Assistant supports the Service Operation by assisting on a variety of levels and plays a key role in seasonal preparation of customer boats for winter storage and for spring commissioning, as well as supports the service department year-round performing a variety of tasks.   The hands-on position requires working with a team of service techs, boatyard operations and waterfront crew to receive and prepare and launch boats for each season. 

Primary Responsibilities/Marine Service Shop

·       The Marine Service Assistant will assist the Marine Service Technicians in a variety of ways, and the position could lead to formal training and advancement to Service Technician.

  • Work with service team to prepare boats for storage and launch
  • Winterization and service of outboards and ability to follow and close out work orders
  • Assist with preparation of customer boats for winterization and spring commissioning

·       Assist waterfront team with vessel service and retrieval when tech support is needed

·       Pressure washing vessels during haul out

·       Blocking boats once hauled

·       The Marine Service Assistant will be trained in Forklift operations

 

Specialty Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of outboard engines and ability to winterize, trouble shoot, and repair
  • General experience in providing a variety of boat maintenance services
  • Heavy equipment experience preferred but not required
  • A good understanding of marine vessels and their operation.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
