) Dietary Cook
Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond is actively seeking a Part Time Cook to work at our Skilled Nursing Facility in St. James, NY.
DUTIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook meals according to posted menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders.
  • Ensure meals are prepared on time and served at the proper temperature and consistency.
  • Follow therapeutic and modified diet guidelines as directed by the Dietitian or Dietary Manager.
  • Taste-test food for quality, flavor, and appearance before service.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
  • Properly store and label all food items; monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.
  • Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food and supplies.
  • Minimize waste through proper portion control and inventory practices.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
  • Work cooperatively with other dietary staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
  • Follow all safety policies and report unsafe conditions or equipment immediately.
  • Attend required in-service training and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be able to do some physical work
  • Experience in Food Service is a requirement
  • Positive attitude and energy is a must!
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
