Job description

As a member of the stage crew the Utility position performs a wide range of tasks in support of the overall program production process. Under supervision of the Stage Manager, Director, and Operations team, Utilities work with technical staff to satisfy production needs for live, taped, and automated programming.

Responsibilities

  • Moving large set pieces and monitors during stage resets
  • Moving and arranging furniture pieces and props (set dressing)
  • Set talent marks on floor at the direction of Stage Manager and Director
  • Work with Stage Manager to support on-camera talent needs (i.e., bottled water, equipment, etc.)
  • Work with Stage Manager and other studio personnel to keep studio, set pieces and equipment clean and organized
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all studio equipment
  • Support Camera Operators in the setup of studio cameras and over-under cable pulls
  • Familiarity with breakdown/setup of cameras and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot cameras on stage (tally, prompter etc.)
  • Ability to change camera lenses
  • Maintain continuity of all related camera equipment, including studio fax out and strike at end of day
  • Assist production crew (i.e., Lighting, Director, etc.) as talent stand-ins on set
  • Understanding of signal path, routers, patch bays and bulkhead connectivity
  • Work with video engineer to determine correct camera routing
  • Pro-actively keep the studio floor safe for all tech traffic
  • Loading and off-loading of equipment trucks
  • Support studio and technical teams with routine maintenance and upkeep of studio spaces, technical rooms, and related equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working on a sound stage 
  • Excellent interpersonal & communications skills required
  • Strong work ethic, positive workplace demeanor and strong leadership skills along with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities required
  • Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure production environment
  • Ability to lift 60lbs and set/strike studio gear
  • Ability to over-under cables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Terms / Expected Hours of Work
