Title: Paralegal (Wage and Hour/Class Action)

Location: Emeryville, CA 94608

Salary: 80-130K

OT Eligible: Yes

Work Environment: 3 days in office (Tuesday Mandatory) / 2 days WFH

Hours per week: 40

Trial Experience: HIGHLY Preferred

MUST HAVE experience supporting class and collective actions AND employment/wage and hour claims. 

MUST KNOW at a confident, expert level how to run Tables of Authorities, and research case law on Westlaw or Lexis Nexis. 

Has been in the class action, employment sector for AT LEAST 3 years (not overall paralegal years). 


Job Description:


Our client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal with substantial experience in supporting class and collective actions as well as employment/wage and hour claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation support, case management, and legal research, with a passion for advocating for workers’ rights.

 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management:
  • Assist attorneys in the preparation and management of class and collective action lawsuits and employment/wage and hour claims.
  • Prepare and organize case files, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and court filings.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely submission of documents and filings.
  • Legal Research and Drafting:
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare summaries of depositions, interrogatories, and other discovery materials.
  • Client and Witness Interaction:
  • Conduct client interviews and gather pertinent information for case preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of witness interviews and depositions.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and other legal proceedings.
  • Court and Filing Procedures:
  • File documents with courts and administrative agencies, ensuring compliance with procedural rules.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits and witness lists.
  • Support trial preparation and attend court hearings, as needed.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Maintain and update case management databases and electronic filing systems.
  • Prepare and track billing and expense reports related to case work.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as required by the attorneys.



Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certification (e.g., from NALA, NFPA, or similar) preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience, with specific expertise in class and collective actions and employment/wage and hour claims.
  • Proven track record of supporting complex litigation and managing multiple cases simultaneously.
