Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plaintiff Mass Tort Litigation firm is seeking a Senior Paralegal and a Junior to Mid-Level Paralegal to join the complex litigation practice in the Austin, Texas office. The successful candidate will work closely with lead litigators to develop complex litigation cases, including but not limited to product liability, pharmaceutical/medical device, sexual abuse/human trafficking, and catastrophic injury cases. We are looking for a candidate with exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multifaceted cases effectively. Experience on the plaintiff side of products liability and/or mass tort is preferred but not a requirement. This is an on-site, full-time position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Litigation Support: Provide comprehensive support to attorneys in case intake, fact investigation, legal research, document preparation and production, database management, docketing/case management, and overall client service.

Advanced Document and Case Management: Manage a large volume of documents and coordinate information in complex cases, including intake, filing, discovery coordination, case organization, expert witness files, depositions, and trial preparation.

Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on their cases and answering their questions.

Discovery Coordination: Review and analyze discovery requests; assist with drafting and coordinating discovery responses; oversee document reviews for responsiveness, privilege, redactions, and case-specific issues.

Procedural Rule Research: Expertise in researching and applying procedural rules across state and federal courts nationally.

Editing and Proofreading: Meticulously edit and proofread legal documents, including briefs and pleadings, as well as ensuring citations are compliant with Bluebook standards.

Electronic Filings: Prepare court filings and coordinate e-filing in state and federal courts across multiple jurisdictions.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 5 years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney.

  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint/Keynote,
  • Adept and comfortable utilizing legal research tools (Bloomberg, Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Ability to complete federal and state electronic filing procedures (using FileServe, Pacer).
  • Available and open to working overtime, as necessary.
  • Can accommodate a 4/1 workweek schedule (4 days in-office + 1 day remote).

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or;
  • Certified Paralegal (CP) by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA) by passing the NALA certification exam or;
  • Graduation from an ABA-approved program of study for paralegals, or;
  • Graduation from an institutionally credited course of study for paralegals which, if not ABA-approved, requires not fewer than the equivalent of 60 semester hours of classroom study.

  • Work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business demands.
  • Demonstration of excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage all key duties without supervision of another Paralegal or Senior Paralegal.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Can accurately track and record billable hours in a timely manner.
