The Assistant Director assists in monitoring the daily operations of the department operations including staff supervision, retention, budgetary oversight, materials management, and data management. The Assistant Director develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78,884.00 - $143,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Non-Bargaining Unit, B00 - B.H. Overhead - OFFS, Mount Sinai Hospital

1) Assiststhe Director in the day-to-day operations of the department. Providesprofessional and administrative guidance to staff.

2) Evaluatesoperations and identifies possible improvements within the department. Consults,advises and informs Director concerning administrative issues, needs andproblems.

3) Plans,organizes and implements services to meet departmental goals. Participates indeveloping and implementing department wide policies and procedures.

4) Interviewsand recommends hiring of new staff. Assists in departmental orientation,mentoring, and training and probationary and annual evaluations of staffmembers. Recommends particular recognition, discipline, and, if necessary,discharge of assigned staff members.

5) Assistsin the preparation and planning of budgets to control costs and allocates fundsin accordance with departmental functions. Performs regular reconciliations,analysis and justification of cost variances

6) Recommendsand implements cost effective measures in department operations.

7) Developsand maintains effective working relationships with various Hospital departmentsto facilitate departmental and institutional goals. Maintains communicationbetween governing boards, medical staff, and department heads by meetings andcoordinating interdepartmental functioning.

8) Establisheswork schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space andequipment availability.

9) Developsand maintains computerized record management systems to store and process datasuch as personnel activities and information. Produces reports as requested oras necessary.

10) Maintains the competenciesand skills of staff through proper training and development . Identifiesongoing educational needs and assists in staff development programs.

11) Performs other relatedduties.
