The Mechanic Assistant - Rider position shall be considered a permanent classification. Employees hired into this classification must pass the basic hiring test including a drug and alcohol screening, and maintain a valid U. S. driver's license and a safe driving record.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES
1. Assist other employees in the field as assigned. They will be assigned schedules to support operations in two-person areas. Schedules will be posted and so arranged that work periods and days off shall be rotated.
2. Perform security guard duties, custodial duties, drive Company vehicles including any service vans, and operates other vehicles when the decal weight does not exceed 6,000 pounds.
3. Meet with other employees assigned at locations mutually agreed upon between the Company and local Union representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass the Street portion of the Gas Battery Test
  • Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
  • Must be able to learn the effective and safe use and the proper care of the tools, equipment and materials used in the work
  • Must have a knowledge of and ability in the safe operation and care of vehicles in all locations and under all conditions of traffic and terrain
  • Must be able to learn the safety rules and practices required for their own and fellow worker safety on the job.
  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete background screening, driving history review and drug testing.
  • Experience, training and certifications/licenses in skilled trades such as HVAC, electric, appliance repair, plumbing, carpentry and heavy construction is desired.
