Job description

MALIBU PANTRY BY MADHAPPY PART-TIME BARISTA 
Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces - including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood - to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores - with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo - are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand's DNA. The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.
 
Pantry by Madhappy is a food, and beverage concept developed by Madhappy that debuted in their West Hollywood Flagship location.
 
About the job
We are looking to hire a part-time barista for our Pantry by Madhappy flagship location in Malibu.
In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring superior service to all customers, maintaining high-standards of operations for the store, and representing what Madhappy stands for.
 
You must be based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area to be considered for this position.
 
Responsibilities
  Greet every customer warmly, creating meaningful connections by answering questions and offering thoughtful, personalized recommendations.
  Prepare coffee, tea, and specialty beverages with precision and consistency, prioritizing quality to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  Operate and maintain the ice cream machine, including proper setup, daily cleaning, restocking, and serving ice cream according to brand and food-safety standards.
  Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout both work and customer areas by wiping down surfaces, dusting, and keeping the shop polished, welcoming, and guest-ready at all times.
  Demonstrate consistent care and respect for all equipment, including the espresso machine, grinders, PUQ press, knock box, and ice cream machine, ensuring proper use, cleanliness, and functionality.
 
About you
Qualifications
  1+ years of coffee and/or coffee related experience
  Knowledge of coffee and experience in matcha preparation
  Previous experience working in a small team environment
  Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, holidays and weekends, as needed
  Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally, patiently and effectively with customers and team members
  Familiarity with the Madhappy brand and mission
