BKV Group seeks a talented Lighting Designer with 8–12 years of experience in architectural lighting design to join our Electrical Engineering team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver thoughtful, high‑performance lighting solutions across a diverse portfolio of project types, including multifamily, hospitality, corporate/commercial, and civic/government. We are looking for a design‑forward professional who brings both creative vision and technical rigor, and who thrives in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers and engineers to integrate lighting solutions that align with overall project goals.
  • Develop innovative lighting concepts that enhance aesthetics, functionality, and the user experience.
  • Prepare and coordinate lighting documentation, including drawings, models, renderings, and client presentations in collaboration with all disciplines.
  • Perform lighting calculations, photometric analysis, etc. to support design decisions and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Utilize tools such as Revit, AGi32, and ElumTools to develop accurate and coordinated design solutions.
  • Design and document lighting control strategies that balance design intent, performance, and budget.
  • Manage multiple project deadlines while contributing to a collaborative, fast‑paced team environment.
  • Support Senior Engineering Staff with contributions to broader project and team initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–12 years of professional experience in architectural lighting design.
  • Proficiency in Revit, and lighting analysis tools (ex – AGi32, ElumTools).
  • Strong knowledge of lighting systems, controls, and applicable energy codes.
  • Lighting Certification (LC) preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Compensation range: $90,000 – $120,000 annually, or commensurate with experience.
